Companion Chip Demo

Xylon has built a demo system to showcase the versatility of the logiCRAFT-CC Platform and Xilinx® FPGAs. The demo demonstrates 3 different companion chip architectures used in interfacings with  three classes of host chipsets: the Intel® Atom™, TI's OMAP™ (based on the ARM® Cortex™-A8) and NEC V850 host processors.

The logiCRAFT-CC demo system uses reference FPGA designs for the PCI Express® and USB connectivity, which are provided as parts of the logiCRAFT-CC Companion Chip Platform kits. The FPGA design for interfacing with the NEC CPU is not included in the kit.

In addition to the FPGA reference designs, provided Linux applicative software and software drivers supports the following companion chip functions:

- PCIe® connected video frame grabber for camera
- USB connected video frame grabber for camera
- SD Card Host control including support for high capacity SDHC cards
- I2S audio control
- additional UARTs and I2C controllers
